A New Intern Enters the Creative
[slider]Hi, I’m Aaron. I’m from Xi’an, China, the land of the Terra-Cotta Warriors. I have been in Canada for almost 5 years now. I’m currently studying communications as my major and business administration program as my minor at Laurentian University. I was in the business program during my first and second year then I decided to switch to communications. I did this because I realized that I was very interested in trying to understand people more than I was in trying to understand numbers. I believe understanding people is the most powerful tool in the business world. I always want to do something different, I have little interest in leading a regular life with a repetitive routine. During my second year in the business program, I decided to run my first startup experiment. I took a few entrepreneurship programs online and worked with a few people who were in my program. It didn’t take long for me to come up with my startup idea. At the beginning, everything was running smoothly, I even gained the attention of the CEO of Cazza. A man who was on the list of Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2017. I was very excited about this and it gave me a great opportunity to learn. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out as I expected. The main thing I learned is what path I needed to improve myself. Working at Launchpad is one of improvements I knew I had to make. I was lacking professional experience, but I did not want to work for a random job that I didn’t enjoy. After doing the research, I found out Launchpad and I believe it is the best place I could work in Sudbury. I decided to start texting Cliff until I could get an opportunity to talk to him. I got the chance and here I am working at Launchpad. I have been here for almost two months now as an intern. The best part of this place is everyone is very easy-going. No one takes themselves too seriously and it is not a stressful environment. In addition, as the owner of Launchpad, Cliff is surprisingly funny and open-minded. He likes to make jokes and makes people laugh a lot. Not only have I learned professional skills such as Photoshop, company management and marketing research, but also I learned how to be a better person and how to accelerate my potential. It is the first time when I feel like I am learning something meaningful and I really enjoy going to work every day. I’m looking forward to learning more from Cliff and the Launchpad team.
